Contaminated fuel in the tank?
We drain it on-site.
Water, dirt, sediment, microbial growth ("diesel bug"), stale fuel — Ben removes the contamination, flushes the lines, replaces the filter if needed, and refuels you with clean fuel. 45 to 90 minutes on-site.

Common contamination types
Water in the tank
Bad batch at the servo, condensation in a half-full tank, leaky fuel cap. Causes misfires + corrosion.
Dirt + sediment
Tank rust, dodgy fuel source, old vehicle with deteriorated tank. Clogs filters and injectors.
Diesel bug
Microbial growth at the fuel-water interface in long-stored diesel. Black sludge that clogs everything.
Stale fuel
Fuel that has sat 6+ months in a vehicle that hasn't run. Loses combustibility, gums up the system.
Symptoms to watch for
- → Engine misfires or runs rough, especially after a recent fill-up
- → Hard starting or no start at all
- → Hesitation, stalling, or loss of power
- → White, black, or excessive smoke from the exhaust
- → Check engine light on
- → Fuel that looks cloudy, milky, or has visible particles
Questions about contaminated fuel
What counts as contaminated fuel? +
Water in the tank (from condensation, a leaky cap, or a bad batch at the pump), dirt or sediment from a dodgy fuel source, biological growth in long-stored diesel ("diesel bug"), or fuel that has degraded over months in a vehicle that has not been run. Any of these cause running problems and engine damage if driven.
How do I know my fuel is contaminated? +
Common signs: engine misfires or runs rough, hesitation or stalling, hard starting, smoke from the exhaust, check engine light, or visible water/dirt in the fuel when drawn from the tank. If you have just refuelled and the car starts behaving badly, contamination is a strong suspect.
Can I add a fuel additive to fix it? +
Additives can help with very mild water contamination but they will not fix a tank with significant water, dirt, or microbial growth. If you have actual contamination, the fuel needs to come out and the system needs flushing. Additives are a prevention tool, not a rescue tool.
What does a contaminated fuel drain cost in Perth? +
Most jobs are $150 to $350. Same band as wrong-fuel jobs because the process is similar — drain, flush, replace filter, refuel. $$ is the typical range. Ben confirms before we start.
Will my engine be OK? +
If we catch it before significant driving on the contaminated fuel — yes, no permanent damage. The further you have driven, the more the contamination has been through the high-pressure pump and injectors. Worst case, those need workshop attention afterwards, but it is rare.
